Want a Teaching Career? Interested in Math?

Posted by Admin On 5/18/2010
If you are a rising senior or graduating senior and you are interested in becoming a MATH teacher, you should consider applying for the Georgia Tech/Kennesaw State Noyce Scholars Program.  There is an information session June 23rd at 11am and again at 6pm.  These will be on the KSU campus in House 59 on Campus Loop Road.  If you have questions, please contact Dr. Desha Williams at dwill178@kennesaw.edu.

Click on "Read More" for directions and more information on the scholarship.  Also, refreshments will be served.
Directions: I-75 North to Chastain Road. Turn left off the interstate. At the 4th light, turn right onto Big Shanty Rd and a quick right onto Campus Loop Road. House 59 is the first house on the left (gray house). If there is not any parking at the house, continue on Campus Loop Road until you see a church on the left. Attendees can park at the church and walk back to the house.

Info: This scholarship is worth up to $20,000.  It will help fund your senior year at Tech and your one year in the Masters of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program in Mathematics at KSU.   In this program, you will also have the opportunity to add the English as a Second/Other Language endorsement to your Math certification, making you extra attractive to employers and even better prepared to effectively teach in today's diverse schools.  Go to http://www.kennesaw.edu/education/grad/MATMath.htm for an overview of the KSU program.

Eligible students should (a) plan to graduate in December or May (2011); (b) should have taken Calc I, II, III and one additional math course (statistics courses count); (c) ideally have a GPA of 3.0 or higher (others will be considered!); (d) be willing to commit to applying to and enrolling in the KSU one-year MAT in Math education, and to then teach in a high-needs school district.
