The “uncertainty” theme is likely to extend to a luncheon presentation by Anders Fogh Rasmussen, a former prime minister of Denmark and the 12th secretary general of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, at the Commerce Club hosted by the World Affairs Council of Atlanta.
An afternoon presentation by business leaders and policy makers from Georgia and Germany will address the potential for clean energy development in Georgia during two separate panels at Georgia Tech.
Christian Egenhofer, senior research fellow and head of energy and climate program at the Center for European Policy Studies in Brussels, is to provide a keynote address prior to the panels.
“Successful Policy Frameworks for Clean Energy in the U.S. and Europe” is the title of the first panel, which will be moderated by John Duffield, professor of political science at Georgia State University.
The panel will feature state Sen. Doug Stone, who represents District 6 in south Cobb County; Jill Stuckey, director of the Georgia Center of Innovation for Energy; Friedo Sielemann, counselor for the environment and energy at the German embassy in Washington and Thierry Buttin, who heads the sustainable development office at the French embassy in Washington.
“Business Opportunities and Job Creation through Clean Energy Development in the U.S. and Europe,” is the title of the second panel, which will be moderated by Vicki Birchfield, director of the E.U. Center.
The second panel will feature Joe Thomas, president and COO of Mage Solar USA; Gretchen Corbin, deputy commissioner of global commerce, Georgia Department of Economic Development; Thomas Orberger, business manager of hybrid drive applications at Siemens USA and a still-to-be announced representative of GE Energy.
A light breakfast is to be served prior to the morning discussion that is to be held at the Georgia Tech Student Center Ballroom, 350 Ferst Drive, NW, Atlanta, Ga., 30318. Attendance is free and open to the public but registration is required by going here .
