DC Internships

Approximately 140 undergraduate leaders attend the Engalitcheff Institute on Comparative Political and Economic Systems (ICPES) in order to gain real-world experience in the nation’s capital interning on Capitol Hill, federal agencies, think tanks, political groups or international affairs organizations.

Academic study is focused on current public policy issues, political trends and the economics of the free market within two tracks – Public Policy or International Affairs.

As one of Washington’s top academic and internship programs, ICPES has provided undergraduates with the ultimate Washington, DC summer experience for more than forty years. A single application provides summer course enrollment at Georgetown University, on-campus housing, and an eight week internship.

Also as part of the Institute experience, ICPES students attend exclusive briefings at various sites around Washington, including the U.S. Capitol, the Federal Reserve, World Bank, State Department and CIA Headquarters. Additionally, students attend the Judd Lecture Series featuring notable leaders and policy makers discussing today’s critical issues.

In today’s economy students must pursue every advantage. As employers become more selective, students need skills and experiences that make them stand out. ICPES gives students a jump on their futures through internships, education, and professional development that will in turn give them an edge when entering the job market.

The Institute will be held in June and July, 2011. Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis until March 3, 2011. Early applicants will receive priority internship placement.
