Barking Hound Village Foundation is a private nonprofit that runs Fulton County Animal Control, which is located at 860 Marietta Blvd Atlanta GA 30318.  The shelter operates a veterinary clinic to care for and provide surgery for animals that are adopted from them.  Hard working volunteers are needed for many aspects of shelter and clinic operations.  Possible duties would include animal care and restraint for exams and treatment, cleaning surgical instruments, assisting in monitoring patients during anesthesia, surgery and recovery.

Clinic operations also include administering vaccinations and medications as well as caring for any ill or injured pets that are in the shelter.  There is also the opportunity to become familiar with basic lab equipment used in most veterinary clinics

This is a great opportunity to see a large number of cases, get hands on experience, and learn a great deal about veterinary medicine in general as well as the particular aspects of shelter medicine.  All of this while doing something to give back to your local community.

No previous experience is required.

The shelter is extremely convenient to Georgia Tech and is open a wide range of hours, including weekends.
