Georgia County Internship Program:  Below are two internship opportunities with Rockdale County, which is located in north central Georgia and was created in 1870. Conyers is the county seat of Rockdale County. The population of Rockdale County has increased to 82,052 in 2007 since the construction of Interstate 20 in the 1960s, allowing people who work in Atlanta to live in Rockdale County and commute.

Position: Public Relations Internship

Description

The intern will assist with writing scripts as well as be on-air talent for public service announcements for the government public access channel. The intern will also assist with special events and miscellaneous public relations projects.

Qualifications

Prefer a background in Mass Communications, Public Relations, Broadcast Journalism or any Media related background. The student must possess excellent written and oral communication skills. The intern must also be comfortable with working on-air (video) and in studio settings. The student must be at least an undergraduate junior or meet the credit requirements through his or her university to be eligible to apply for an internship.

Duration: Summer and Fall 2010
Hours Per Week: 20 hours per week

Position: Records Management Assistant

Description

The intern will assist the county clerk with all aspects of records management including but not limited to responding to Open Records Act requests and implementing record retention measures. The intern will also attend board meetings, review county ordinances and codes, assist in the drafting and preparation of various documents and correspondence relative to county government, provide research assistance, and assist with special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Prefer a background in Law, County Government and/or Political Science. The intern must possess organizational and reading comprehension skills and also have sufficient knowledge of computer software, technology and general office equipment. The student must be at least an undergraduate junior or meet the credit requirements through his or her university to be eligible to apply for an internship.

Duration: Summer 2010
Hours Per Week: 20-30
Salary: This is an unpaid position
