US News and World Report (12/28, Wolgemuth) offers its list of "The 50 Best Careers of 2010," which it created by analyzing a variety of data including Labor Department job growth projections and income levels. It also considered "a broad range of categories" and education levels when making the list, which is broken into five categories. The article provides links to each occupation, where it provides a brief description of the job, as well as an assessment of factors such as stress and activity levels, financial compensation, upward mobility, and education requirements.
You can see the breakdown by broad career area here. Note that HTS is great preparation for many in the "Education and Civic," "Business and Finance," and "Creative and Service" fields, or even preparation to go to grad school for one of the other fields.
